Canadian Pacific N2a class 2-8-0 #3758
This model was made in Japan and imported by Pacific Pike. It was very nicely custom painted by the late Ken Baines in a matte/semi-gloss black. It has also been very subtly and realistically weathered. The lettering is by nicely hidden decals.
What appear to be MV lenses and/or jewels have been applied to the smoke box and tender marker lights. The original open frame motor has been replaced with a Mashima can motor. The locomotive runs smoothly, without any jogs, hitches or wobbles sometimes associated with older brass models. A working headlight and working Kadee couplers have been installed on the pilot and tender.
There is a slight bit of wheel wear noticeable, but electrical transmission from wheels to track is excellent.
The model has its original box in good condition. The foam inside the box is not original and has been replaced with a makeshift arrangement of wrap around foam and dividers. It is a serviceable, if inelegant, means of protecting the model.
Price: $495.00. [Photo 1] [Photo 2] [Photo 3] [Photo 4] [Photo 5] [Photo 6]

Canadian Pacific Heavyweight Baggage-Sleeper
This is one of the Van Hobbies' run of the CPR heavyweight cars from fifteen or so years ago. The worksmanship on these full 85' cars was very fine, rivalling many of the products coming out nowadays. These Baggage-Sleeper combinations usually ran on the lake trains from Winnipeg to Fort William (Thunder Bay).
This model has been custom painted in CP's Tuscan Red and numbered #4490. The windows have been glazed with microscope glass and have shades installed, prototypically at different levels as set by individual users in the different seats. Kadee couplers are fitted and function properly, so that the car can not only be run in a train, but also switched in and out reliably.
This particular car is probably the only one of the series that still comes up for sale at retail occasionally. Price: $895.95. [Photo]

This model has been custom painted in CP's Tuscan Red and numbered #1324. The windows have been glazed with microscope glass and have shades installed, prototypically at different levels as set by individual users in the different seats. Unlike the Baggage-Sleeper Combination, the other cars in the VH run - this one included - are now virtually unobtainable on the used or consignment market. This model started off life as a plain-jane Athearn kit. It has been extensively reworked and redetailed. Kadee couplers were body-mounted at the proper height and function properly. Kadee 36" wheelsets were installed in the Athearn trucks and worked to run smoothly and freely.
All cast on handrails were shaved off and replaced with scale size wire, affixed by nut-bolt-washer castings. Working diaphragms were made from scratch and installed so that they do not interfere with coupler operation. Coupler cut bars, air, signal and steam hoses were added. Underbody detail was added. The windows have shades installed, set prototypically at different levels.
This model has been custom painted in CP's Tuscan Red and numbered #1457. It has also been weathered. $179.95. [Photo 1] [Photo 2]

CPR Big Otis Gondola
